Why Organic Food Is a Better Choice for Your Family

"Organic" means a food was grown under rules about what can be used on the farm, checked by a certifier. The word alone isn't proof, so it's worth knowing what to look for.
Look for a Named Certificate
A genuine organic claim names the certifier and gives a certificate number you can check. A logo with no name or number isn't enough.
Check the Label
The label should tell you:
- What's in the jar, and anything added.
- The net weight.
- Who made it, and where.
- When it was packed, or when to use it by.
Ask the Seller
A good seller answers questions about where the crop was grown and how it was dried. If the answers are vague, take your time before you buy.
